What do I do?

As the counselor at Constable Elementary School, I work collaboratively with teachers, administrators and parents to provide a variety of services to support our students that include but are not limited to:
  • one-to-one as needed counseling (typical topics include conflict resolution, social concerns, relationships, academic support, decision making, self-esteem, anxiety/stress, feelings of sadness/depression, family concerns)  
  • counseling groups dependent on student needs as determined by parent and staff referrals;  Topics usually include students of divorce/separation, anger management, bereavement, stress/anxiety management, and social skills/friendship building, new student support group
  • school-wide programming such as school violence prevention, "The Week of Respect"
  • classroom lessons on counseling related topics such as bullying prevention, problem solving, conflict resolution, social emotional development and personal safety
  • individual crisis assessments as needed
  • counseling related referral resource for students and families
  • transition support for incoming Kindergarteners and outgoing 5th graders
  • academic support through 504 plans, Student Support Team interventions, action plans and behavior plans  
  • ​staff professional development on various mental health topic​
